Reovirus RNA Transcrition
This
In3D animation highlights the inital steps of RNA transscription
by the RNA-dependent RNA polymerase from reovirus. In this animation
you will observe several stages of transcription initiation.
Beginning
with a quick orientation of the enzyme itself, the viewer
is then shown the capped RNA template that will later be used for
initiation of transcription. The capped RNA binds in a special cleft
on the enxyme surface. Following binding, the 3'-end of the RNA
is fed into the enzyme actve site, where stranscription initiation
occurs. Transcription begins with the formation of a pppGpG dimer
(shown). Following formation of the dimer elongation comenses ielding
full length RNA of the opposite polarity.
The In3D
effect observable here is typical of that observed using our special
encoding process.
